Buffett: Do As I Say, Not As I Do

Buffett: Do As I Say, Not As I Do

We’ll continue today with my summary of Berkshire’s annual meeting, and the most important things an investor should remember and learn from Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger.

If You Want A Formula, You Should Go Back To School

On a question seeking a mathematical explanation of how to pick stocks, Munger said that investing cannot be put into a formula because they are always wrong. As always, investing is about commons sense.

For Munger, Costco at a PE of 12 was simply extremely cheap even if the price to book was around 3. This leads to another interesting topic about asset light businesses.

Why The Current Financial Environment Is Crazy

Why The Current Financial Environment Is Crazy

    • It has never before been so easy to get money. The consequence is bubbles.
    • Some bubbles are innocuous and even funny, other bubbles are extremely dangerous.
    • The most important thing is to know how to behave in this environment, and we’ll discuss that today.

    Curious About Cryptocurrencies? Read This.

    Introduction

I get lots of questions about bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies.

The questions usually come from younger people who blindly invested based on some interesting narrative heard somewhere that convinced them to renounce a few beers. However, those who invested have done very well and now it isn’t just a few beers anymore but a significant amount in the form of a few codes on an account and things are getting serious.

All the questions and excitement surrounding Bitcoin led me to really analyze the environment out of curiosity, and provide my opinion on what can happen and what kind of an investment Bitcoin actually is. More →

Sunday Edition: What Asset Class Rises 300% In 2 Months?

Sunday Edition: What Asset Class Rises 300% In 2 Months?

To say the last few months have been wild for cryptocurrencies would be to put things mildly.

On April 1, all cryptocurrencies combined had a market cap of $25 billion. But by the beginning of June, that number had risen to just over $100 billion. That’s a 300% increase in value in just over 60 days…

By now, I imagine every investor has heard of bitcoin and it needs no introduction. The digital currency heavyweight itself was up roughly 160% in the same time frame, but the growth of other digital currencies contributed as well. Ethereum, for one, increased 439% in the same two months. More →
